Suga Suga how you get so fly, Suga Suga how you get so fly…I can’t help but sing this song right now. I opened a tin of Jaffa Cakes that I was fortunate enough to find at Shams on my trip to Islamabad back in December. Jaffa Cakes bring back so many memories, but mostly they remind me of 2010.
My childhood best friend Shakzie, and I had the best time in Newcastle Upon Tyne. We went on road trips, all the way to Edinburgh and Scotland, we listened to good music, ate all the fish and chips and jacket potato we could, just had a merry time. Life was so simple back then, being a teenager really isn’t so bad.
I fail to understand why we’re all in a hurry to grow up. Shakzie and I used to tease her younger brother Junior all the time but man oh man was he an exceptional cook even at 13. He found his true calling early on and became a chef for real.
It’s beyond beautiful how some friends can feel more like family, sometimes perhaps even more than family. These friends of mine are just that and more I love them and the moments spent with them. It’s the memories you create with your people that make it all worthwhile.
