In order to love who you are, you cannot hate the experiences that shaped you.”- Unknown
I read this quote today on the Gratitude app for iOS. It really resonated with me on a deep level. It talks about embracing the good and bad, accepting your past experiences and loving yourself regardless of how things played out.
More often than not, we tend to look at bad experiences as a benchmark for other uncomfortable experiences, we carry the burden of our past into our future.
Letting go isn’t an easy feat, and we aren’t as good at it as some of us might proclaim. Our experiences shaped us into who we are today, but we don’t wish to acknowledge that. We’re always running from our past lives, which is why we fail to love ourselves in the present.
You cannot fully embrace the here and now if you dwell on the things that went awry. Take a different approach to things, open up to the idea of embracing the good from it, accept that everything happened for a reason, believe that what is to come is even better and that you deserve to be happy, you deserve love and you deserve all that you want.
When you believe that you deserve the good that is coming your away, you manifest it. Your unpleasant experiences can no longer haunt you, because you finally understand the meaning of self love and let go of your inhibitions.
